The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest data regarding unemployment, according to which the seasonally corrected rate in May 2014 was 27.2%, compared to 27.7% in May 2013 and 27.3% in April 2014.

In total there were 3,504,059 people employed in May 2014, while 1,309,213 were out of a job and a further 3,328,067 were inactive.

ELSTAT’s data shows that there were 7,468 fewer employed compared to May 2013 (-0.2%), but 22,291 more compared to April 2014 (+0.6%). Additionally, there were 39,227 fewer unemployed compared to May 2013 (-2.9%), but 2,815 more since April 2014 (+0.2%).

In the case of those who are not actively seeking employment, ELSTAT’s data shows that their numbers dropped by 1,155 since May 2013 and a further 29,542 since April 2014 (-0.9%).
