The Minister of Health Makis Voridis (pictures left) appeared on ANT1’s Monday morning news program where he praised the efforts of his predecessor Adonis Georgiadis (pictured right) and vowed to maintain the same focus.

Mr. Voridis also revealed in coordination with the Ministry of Finances he intends to redistribute the budget in healthcare, while underlining the coalition government’s “central political decision” to emphasize its social policies.

Regarding medication and contributions paid by insurance policy holders, Mr. Voridis argued that “there must be some balance between the insured and the taxpayer”.

The Health Minister also stressed that by improving the efficiency of the healthcare system, competition may improve which in turn may help reduce the cost of medication.
