The Ministers of Education and Administrative Reform, Andreas Loverdos and Kyriakos Mitsotakis, met with the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in order to resolve their differences regarding the upcoming dismissal of university employees.

While Mr. Loverdos’ predecessor Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos had agreed with the Minister of Administrative Reform to transfer 883 university employees of the 1036 who were suspended. Mr. Mitsotakis later decided that only 500 employees would be transferred to other institutions, meaning the rest would be suspended and face dismissal.

The newly-appointed Education Minister has called for fewer employees to be dismissed, with the Minister of Administrative Reform however insisting on the arrangement that was previously made.
