The Minister of Education Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos has arranged to meet with representatives of suspended teachers at noon, in order to discuss their options. The teachers have demanded that the dismissals, evaluations and school closures end.

The two sides also met on Thursday, however the meeting was cut short when Mr. Arvanitopoulos left to attend Parliament. A group of the teacher representatives remained at the Ministry’s amphitheater, before being forced to leave by the police later in the evening.

Meanwhile teacher federation OLME has announced a three-hour walk out between 11am and 2pm, so that school teachers can attend their organized demonstration outside the Ministry at noon.

Furthermore, suspended teachers symbolically cut off access to the the education directorate of West Thessaloniki. The local teacher unions decided to escalate their demonstrations, as the end of their term of suspension ends on the 22nd of March, after which point they will be made redundant.
