Another four people succumbed to the recent influenza outbreak in Greece over the past 24 hours, which raised the total number of casualties to 49, of whom 30 were men and 19 were women. At present 56 people are being hospitalized in Intensive Care Units.

The Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO) have urged vulnerable social groups to get inoculated and seek out anti-viral treatment as soon as the first symptoms appear. The majority of victims belonged to high-risk groups (elderly, obese, chronically ill etc).

KEELPNO officials claim that the prevention against the flue will help the government economize in the long term by saving valuable man-hours, medication and hospital beds; about 10% of hospital beds in ICUs are occupied by ‘flu patients.
