DEI employee unions have arranged a demonstration on Korai square for today at 3.30pm and a march to Syntagma square in order to protest the government’s intention to privatize the state power transmission operator ADMIE.

Yesterday the DEI employee unions announced that they would go on two consecutive 24-hour strikes, without however affecting the regular supply of electricity. The protests argue that ADMIE must remain a public entity for strategic and national security purposes.

According to the government’s plan, the State will retain a 34% share of ADMIE after the privatization takes place.
