Archbishop Ieronymos was invited on Mega Channel to comment on the situation in Greece and explained that the Church realized that the people are going through very tough times and cannot take much more.
The Archbishop clarified that violence and oppression are not compatible with the role of the Church. When asked about the much-discussed separation of Church and State, he explained that “we will never ask for a separation from the State. If the State sends us away, we will not die”.
The Archbishop added that changes are needed in Church structures and that many of these issues will be addressed at the upcoming Synod.
