The union of ERT journalists issued a scathing announcement on Thursday evening, where they called the interim public broadcast channel ED an “illegal, tele-pirate construct”.

The union also claimed that contrary to the allegations of relevant Deputy Minister for Public Radio and Television Pantelis Kapsis, nobody is turned away from the central ERT facilities in Agia Paraskevi.

POSPERT has demanded that the government “keeps open the channel of communication”, with two conditions: shut down EDT and reinstate ERT, as per the Council of State’s ruling.

The announcement concludes that “tele-piracy will not carry on” and that “the government is the one insisting on breaking the law”.
