Tragedy struck a family in Agrinio in the early hours of Wednesday, which resulted in the death of a 60-year-old mother and the arrest of her son.
At about 2.15 in the morning the 60-year-old woman asked her son to turn off the television and go to bed because he had exams in the morning. The son reacted by attacking his mother with a kitchen knife, stabbing her three times in the chest, back and hand, killing her instantly.
The student’s father was asleep in the next room, while the older brother appears to have been out at the time. When the police arrested the son, he confessed and told his side of the events. The police is investigating whether the son was under pressure from the exams or if there was a different cause.
