The Ministry of Finances is finalizing its draft of a new bill it hopes to pass through Parliament. Tax officials, auditors and prosecutors will have instant access to the bank accounts, loan and credit card details in order to track down tax evaders.

Amongst the provisions of the bill, is the exemption from having to declare the interest fees from their bank savings, provided the sum does not exceed 250 euros. The new bill also places stricter requirements to quality for child benefits.

The government goal is to restrict and combat tax evasion, which is estimated to be worth 60 billion euros, while the State misses out on about 20 billion euros of revenue.
