The spokesperson of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas has announced that the Eurogroup has instructed the Euro Working Group to convene early in the upcoming week, in order to take the necessary decisions. Mr. Schinas also expressed his hope that all necessary actions regarding the measures that the Greek government has committed to would conclude in the next few days.

During a Thursday meeting of the Government Council for Economic Policy it was estimated that the negotiations can conclude by Saturday, meaning that the Euro Working Group may convene on Sunday in order to greenlight the payments of the 2-billion-euro tranche and the 10 billion euros earmarked for the bank recapitalization.

The Government Vice President Yannis Dragasakis presided over Thursday’s Government Council for Economic Policy, which also saw participations from the Minister of Finances Euclid Tsakalotos, the Alternate Finance Ministers Giorgos Houliarakis and Tryfon Alexiadis, the Minister of Economy Giorgos Stathakis, the Deputy Minister of National Strategic Reference Framework Issues Alexis Charitsis, along with the Minister of Environment and Energy Panagiotis Skourletis.
