The Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis was invited to speak on Mega Channel’s morning chat show on Monday, where he stated that there will be no dismissals from the health sector.
Mr. Georgiadis explained that about 1,250 hospital employees (mostly nurses, caregivers and administrative staff, excluding doctors) will be inducted in the government’s mobility program. These employees will be appointed to their new posts in about two months, within the same district.
The Ministry plans on transferring staff from hospitals that are not full, to hospitals with increased needs. The underused hospitals will be turned into primary “urban style” care centers.
Mr. Georgiadis claimed that these reforms are “a given” and not mandated by the troika representatives, but rather an effort to economize and take better advantage of available resources.
