A shooting appears to have taken place outside the building where the embassy of Mexico is housed, in the city center of Athens.

According to reports, a bullet hole was noticed in the window on the fifth floor of the building, where the embassy is located, was noticed at about 3pm on Monday and the police was promptly called out.

Upon closed investigation the police discovered evidence of another bullet on the fourth floor of the building, where a stock company is based. No bullets have been recovered, but it is believed that the embassy was the target.

Two eyewitnesses told authorities that they saw two people arrive outside the building on a motorcycle early on Sunday morning brandishing large weapons, possibly Kalashnikov rifles.
