The recent announcement that the Marinopoulos supermarket chain has applied for bankruptcy has caused major reactions from the company’s creditors and 12,000 employees.

A number of creditors, who are owed over 3 million euros, are concerned about the supermarket chain’s moves and has called for authorities to reverse fraudulent property transfers and begin bankruptcy proceedings.

The supermarket chain’s 12,000 employees also issued a statement criticizing the company’s management, for firing staff members, shutting down stores and taking out loans worth millions of euros. The employees also stress that the bankruptcy will affect 1,500 businesses.
