The Minister of State Alekos Flampouraris hinted towards the possibility of alliances with the Union of Centrists in an interview on ERT, while rejecting rumors that the coalition government may lose its majority in Parliament over the next bill containing prior actions and reforms.

Mr. Flampouraris noted that “four or five” of the proposals made by Union of Centrists president Vasilis Leventis, in order to support the coalition government, could be accepted. When asked about the recent political leader council meeting, Mr. Flampouraris expressed his disappointment towards the stance of the opposition parties.

Regarding recent comments of government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili over possible alliances, the State Minister clarified that he did not want to comment, suffice to say that discussions with the political parties would have to take place. Mr. Flampouraris revealed that talks with the Union of Centrists, the Democratic Alignment (PASOK/DIMAR) and the River could take place, but excluded New Democracy and “the far right”.

The State Minister stressed however that these talks would not result in an expansion of the government’s majority, bur rather help the country overcome the crisis.
