The latest proposals submitted by the Greek government which were rejected by the institutions include a 1% primary surplus goal for 2015 and VAT increases aimed at generating 1.4 billion euros in revenue, according to the Kathimerini newspaper.

Athens proposed the following measures:

Parametric revenue worth 1.195 billion euros (1.1% GDP) for 2015 and 3.583 billion euros (2% GDP) for 2016

  1. Special 12% contribution for companies with profits over 1 million euros. This would generate 600 million euros in 2015 and a further 600 million euros in 2016
  2. Increase corporate tax from 26% to 29%, generating 450 million euros worth of income
  3. Increase solidarity tax by 220 million euros for 2015 and 250 million euros for 2016
  4. Cut national defense expenses for 2016 by 200 million euros
  5. Tax television advertising 100 million euros for 2015 and a further 100 million euros in 2016
  6. Tax online gambling to generate 35 million euros in 2015 and 225 million euros in 2016
  7. Administrative resolution of real estate taxation disputes, which will generate 50 million euros in 2015 and 50 million euros in 2016
  8. Tax the technical inspection of vehicles (KTEO), by 72 million euros in 2015 and 50 million euros in 2016
  9. Revenue from clamping down on uninsured vehicles to generated 51 million euros in 2015 and 40 million euros in 2016
  10. Increasing luxury tax, including yatchs, for an additional 47 million euros in 2015 and a further 47 million euros in 2016
  11. VAT reform to generate 680 million euros in 2015 and 1.360 billion euros in 2016
  12. Curbing early retirements will generate 71 million euros in 2016
  13. Rebate on pharmaceutical expenditure is estimated to be 140 million euros in 2015 and a further 140 million euros in 2016

Administrative measures to generate 1.625 billion euros (0.91% GDP) in 2015 and 2.361 billion euros (1.31% GDP) in 2016

  1. Curb smuggling and illicit trade of fuel to generate 75 million euros in 2015 and 300 million euros in 2016
  2. Inspect bank accounts to generate 200 million euros in 2015 and 500 million euros in 2016
  3. Combat VAT tax evasion to generate 50 million euros in 2015 and 700 million euros in 2016
  4. E-gaming revenue for 2015 estimated to be 160 million euros in 2015 and 361 million euros in 2016
  5. Implementation of EU legislation on the environment and agriculture to generate 276 million euros in 2015
  6. Address triangular transactions to generate 24 million euros in 2015
  7. Collect 340 million euros worth of fees and television licenses for 2014
  8. Adjustment of arrears in installments to generate 500 million euros in 2015 and a further 500 million euros in 2016
