During a meeting with hospital managers, the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis revealed that he intends to submit an extensive healthcare bill in Parliament.

Mr. Georgiadis further elaborated that the bill will aim to address a number of issues related to hospital operation, including the newly-formed EOPYY replacement Primary National Healthcare Network (PEDY).

Among others, the bill will make provisions for the operation of the national healthcare system’s (ESY) surgeries in the afternoon. The General Secretary Pelopidas Kalliris also revealed that the Ministry has plans to increase the number of available beds for patients.

Additionally, it was revealed that private and public sector joint ventures would come into effect, with deals for hospital kitchens being the first of more to follow.

The Minister of Health stressed that the private sector and private initiative can help support the national healthcare system.
