The Ministry of Growth’s recent proposal for the deregulation of the sale of non-prescription drugs in super markets has not found many allies in the Ministry of Health, with Mr. Georgiadis commenting on SKAI TV that “non-prescription drugs are not candies, they may have side-effects when used with other medication”, indicating his intention to veto the proposal.

Health Minister Georgiadis also claimed that American model proposed by the Minister of Growth Kostis Hatzidakis has not been implemented anywhere else in Europe and that this particular model has been scrutinized in the USA for its efficiency.

Mr. Georgiadis concluded that “I respect Mr. Hatzidakis, I consider him a good politician, Mr. Hatzidakis is in charge of growth and the public health concerns me. We must both agree for these reforms to take place. We will come to the best possible agreement”.
