The Doctors of the World and a number of activist groups are holding their fourth annual appeal for children in need, by setting up a Christmas milk tree in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra and Chania.

With the financial crisis firmly entrenched in Greece they humanitarian needs have skyrocketed in recent years, prompting the Doctors of the World to collect milk, baby food, rice, pasta, legumes, oil and sugar for children in need. Last year over 55,000 tins of milk and four tons of food were collected and distributed via the organization’s polyclinics.

This year donations will be collected at Propylaea in Athens (between 8am and 10pm), at the Agia Sofia & Tsimiski pedestrian area in Thessaloniki (between 10am and 10pm), the St. George Square in Patra (between 8am and 10pm) and the 1866 Square in Chania, Crete (between 10am and 10pm).
