The Psomiadis trial for fixed football matches will resume on Friday, at the request of the defense attorneys, so that a number of recorded telephone conversations submitted as evidence can be thoroughly examined.

According to the defense team of Mr. Psomiadis, after voicing an objection, the courts ordered that the transcription of the recorded telephone conversations be repeated.

While the prosecutor initially rejected the defense’s demand for a break so that the new transcripts can be thoroughly examined, the court president conceded and decided to resume the trial on Friday.

Mr. Psomiadis, who is thought to have been a mastermind behind a controversial match-fixing scandal, is also being tried for allegedly embezzling about 21.5 million euros from AEK F.C.’s treasury when he was club president.
