The tax services managed to collect about 300 million euros in January from outstanding debts. Specifically, the outstanding debts towards the State were reduced by 302 million to 55.485 billion euros, compared to 55.787 billion euros in December 2012.
These sums were mostly related to outstanding debts from other taxpayers, which were reduced to 42.612 billion euros in January 2013, from 42.910 billion euros in December 2012.
The outstanding debts of public utilities and municipal companies were estimated to be about 3.672 billion euros, slight reduced from the 3.673 billion euros of December. The debts of bankrupt businesses were reduced to 9.012 bullion euros from 9.015 billion euros in December 2012.
It is noted that the government has committed to collecting 1.9 billion euros from outstanding debts, by the end of 2013.
