The Minister of Labor G. Vroutsis informed the directors of pension funds that all crosschecks of pensioner social security (AMKA) and tax registry (AFM) numbers that have been declared, must be complete by the 10th of March.
Mr. Vroutsis points out that there are 189,714 pensioners who have not submitted an AFM and 307,473 pensioners have not declared an AMKA yet. Should this information be collected, the crosschecks between the tax office and pension funds will be far easier.
At the same time the Minister is asking for pensions to be revised, taking into consideration all laws that have not been applied yet. This is to ensure that the appropriate cuts are made to those who collect two pensions or work.
According to Mr. Vroutsis Greece has “one of the finest pension monitoring and control systems in Europe” and urges a greater commitment to the tasks at hand as “it would a shame for a job that started with the directors and employees to almost be complete and to not end”.
