The Opposition party SYRIZA is preparing for the crucial strike of the 20th February, which it hopes will destabilize the government. This is evident by the party’s central committee’s recent turn to the “movement” and social struggles.

In preparation of the strike SYRIZA will attempt to activate networks of employees and syndicalists. The strike is treated as a central axis of confrontation with the government, in an attempt to bring back into public dialog the economy and the social repercussions of their politics.

In that respect, SYRIZA circles express their worries regarding the level of social reaction and mass of the strike, which is not the desired. For that purpose, SYRIZA’s leadership has adopted a number of Left Stream policies, which has repeatedly stressed the need for creation of social and political alliances, in order to both overthrow the government policies and to condiv political alliances.
