The Coordinating Spokesperson for Economic and Financial Affairs Annika Breidthardt has commented that the progress in negotiations between Greece and its creditors for a third bailout suggest an agreement is possible in August.

Mrs. Breidthardt argued that an agreement within August is possible and noted that it would be preferable to conclude the negotiations before the 20th of August, echoing earlier statements last week by European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker.

Furthermore, the spokesperson explained that the IMF and ECB technical teams working alongside the European Commission to finalize the text of a memorandum of understanding, as well as a list of prior actions for which Greek authorities could soon introduce legislation.
