According to the General Secretary of the administrative employee union of Athens Dimitris Sakatos, about 50% of the administrative staff at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens has returned to work.

The Ministry of Education expects this percentage to grow in response to the tension caused by the charged and divisive vote to continue the administrative employee strike. Minister Arvanitopoulos stated that groups associated to ANTARSYA and SYRIZA had attempted to overthrow the union’s president for entering discussions with the Ministry of Education.

In light of these developments, it seems likely that more administrative employees will return to their jobs to Monday, meaning that the university strike could officially end on Tuesday, when the strikers have planned sector-wide general assemblies.
