FYROM President Gjorge Ivanov is attempting to scupper a framework deal reached between Athens and Skopje, noting that he rejects any settlement that requires domestic use of the new name.
“The position of President Ivanov is based on principles, and at the same time is in line with all former Presidents of the Republic. That position is that President Ivanov does not accept a naming solution in which the new name will apply to all [including domestically], or erga omnes,” the FYROM presidency said in a statement.

At a meeting yesterday with Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, Ivanov said that the results so far of the negotiating process are in the framework of a “personal agreement” between Alexis Tsipras and FYROM PM Zoran Zaev, and that the deal lacks consensus in Skopje.
