A government source has confirmed that the European Central Bank has been paid 1.54 billion euros for a bond and interest payments. The anonymous source told Reuters that the payment was made on Wednesday.
In total the Greek government has paid 2.64 billion euros for the ECB bond and other government bonds held by other central banks in the Eurozone, the anonymous government official added.
The Greek government used part of the 7.5 billion euro tranche that it received from the European Stability Mechanism at the end of June, after successfully completing the first bailout program review.
