The IMF’s mission chief in Greece Delia Velculescu argued that the Greek debt is clearly unsustainable and that debt relief is necessary, in her appearance at the Economist conference in Athens.

According to Mrs. Velculescu, even if the Greek government fully implements the series of fiscal measures it has agreed to, the country’s debt will remain unsustainable. The IMF officer further noted that although the Fund is not a part of the agreement is is participating in the discussions.
