The parents of 4-year-old Maria-Irene have filed a complaint regarding the abduction of their daughter on Easter Sunday, announced the family’s lawyers on Thursday.

According to the lawyer, who spoke to ANT1, the police was quick to detain and prosecute the parents, arguing that a preliminary examination could have been launched instead. The police has so far ruled out the possibility of an abduction.

Furthermore, the lawyer explained that a social worker will soon visit the family home, in order to determine whether the conditions are suitable so that the 4-year-old girl may return.

After being found on Easter Monday, about 4 kilometers away from its home, the child was taken to the Children’s Hospital, where it will remain until the social worker’s verdict.
