The President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos responded to the violent events that took place in Idomeni and was highly critical of FYROM’s stance.

In his statement, Mr. Pavlopoulos argued that FYROM’s behavior was “incomprehensible and unacceptable” and underlined that the Skopje has no place in the European Union or NATO.

Mr. Pavlopoulos made the statement during his meeting with Portguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, who commented that his country will support Greece. Mr. Costa also criticized the decision to close the borders.
