The occupation of the Hellenic Sugar Industry (EBZ) factories and facilities at Platy in Imathia, Orestiada, Serres and Larissa continues for the fifth consecutive day.

The facilities have been occupied by sugar beet producers, who have given the company until Tuesday, the 12th of April, to appoint a new management board that will provide a solution. The company’s board resigned six days ago, a day before the producers decided to carry out their protest.

According to the producers they are owed about 8 million euros by EBZ for their campaign in 2015. They have also demanded compensation for this year’s production, which amounts to 45,000 acres.
