The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has until the 15th of April to comply with FIFA regulations, otherwise face the prospect of a ‘football Grexit’.

Specifically, FIFA has demanded that the Greek Football Cup resume, which the Deputy Minister of Sport Stavros Kontonis suspended after the violent clashes that took place at the PAOK-Olympiacos semi-final in Thessaloniki.

Mr. Kontonis appears to be adamant about his decision and does not intend to back down, until there is more transparency in the sport. Furthermore he holds EPO responsible for not ensuring the appropriate conditions and delays.

Unless EPO chief Giorgos Girtzikis resigns, it seems unlikely that the Deputy Minister of Sport will change his stance, meaning that FIFA will be forced to materialize its threat of expelling Greece from all of its football competitions.
