US President Barrack Obama expressed his confidence that Greece will come out stronger from the financial crisis, during the celebrations to honor the Greek Independence at the White House.

During his address, the American leader referred to the bonds between the two countries and drew parallels between their struggles for independence. Mr. Obama stressed that Greece is an important US and NATO ally, while pledging to support Greece.

The Greek government was represented by the Deputy Minister of NSRF Issues Alexis Charitsis and Greece’s Ambasasdor in the USA Christos Panagopoulos. Also present at the celebrations were US Vice President Joe Biden and Archbishop Demetrios of America.
