The spokesperson for New Democracy’s parliamentary group Kyriakos Mitsotakis argued that the dilemma faced, following the negotiations, is that between a bad agreement or a default.
Mr. Mitsotakis told Mega Channel that there was still room to negotiate better terms in certain problematic areas in the proposal submitted by the institutions, such as in the VAT reform.
The ND spokesperson was critical of the pluralism of opinions expressed from government and SYRIZA officers and commented that PM Alexis Tsipras’ political capital will quickly disappear, unless he curbs extreme voices within his party.
Finally, Mr. Mitsotakis questioned the value of calling early elections, stressing that they will be interpreted as a rupture with Europe. According to the MP, early elections will not solve any problems, aside from internal management.
