The Left Platform, SYRIZA’s “internal opposition”, has called upon the government to reject any ultimatums by the institutions, while underlining that there are “alternative solutions” which “the creditors fear” and declaring that any requests for an extension of the austerity cannot be acceptable.

In its statement that was published on iskra.gr, the Left Platform argued that Greece’s partners and the institutions are forcing the Greek government into an agreement with new anti-popular measures, neoliberal anti-worker deregulations and selling off public assets.

Furthermore, the Left Platform accused the creditors of overtly and indirectly attempting to extort Greece and called the Greek government to reject “any ultimatum” which conflicts with the government’s pledges and “identitarian values of the Left”. The extension of austerity, painful measures, selling off of public assets and the new assault on the pension funds and job market cannot be accepted by a SYRIZA-led government, the statement continues.

According to the Left Platform “the country has alternative solutions, which despite the temporary difficulties, may pave the way for hopeful, progressive developments, from the scope of the people’s interests”. These alternatives, the Left Platform continues, are feared by the country’s creditors and will lead to a future of growth.
