The Rector of the University of Athens Theodoros Fortsakis decided to cancel a senate meeting on Thursday morning, after about 30 students decided to interrupt the meeting.

Mr. Fortsakis requested that the students leave the room in order to continue to meeting, however they declined. According to a report on SΚΑΙ, the Rector warned the students that he would press charges and appears to have been heard calling for “outside help”.

The students, who are reacting against the new university security measures, interrupted the meeting after in order to participate in the discussion. Last week the Rector warned that he would not allow “gangs” in his office, when a small group entered his office and raised a banner with the slogan “Bread – Education – Freedom”.
