The Ministry of Growth is devising a series of measures in an effort to reduce the price of essential goods, such as bread and milk, as the current initiatives have failed to yield the expected results.

Amongst the more radical legislative changes that the Ministry is promoting is the sale of bread and bakery goods by weight, rather than per unit. To that end, the Ministry has warned that fines will be imposed on offenders.

The Deputy Minister of Growth Gerasimos Giakoumatos has began a series of talks with dairy farmers, dairy industries and super markets in an effort to come to a “gentleman’s agreement” to reduce the price of milk, after the coalition government’s controversial efforts failed to curb prices.
