The Efimerida ton Syntakton has published a number of pictures from the early years of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, which shows party leader Nikos Michaloliakos and his second-in-command Christos Pappas celebrating Adolf Hitler’s birthday.
In the pictures the two MPs are shown giving Nazi salutes in front of an SS brigade banner, responsible for the massacres that took place in Distomo and Kleisoura during the German Occupation. In another picture published by the newspaper, Christos Pappas is shown giving a salute in the German military cemetery in Dionysos.
The detained MPs have denied harboring any Nazi beliefs and claim to be a patriotic nationalist party.
