According to a study that is going to be presented at the 29th Clinical Cardiology Conference, thousands of heart patients have stopped their treatment as they are unable to pay for the necessary medication.

The study, which saw the participation of about 45,000 people, found that 12.9% of patients were forced to stop treatment for financial reasons. Additionally, about 45% of patients claimed that the cost of medication was excessive.

The professor of Cardiology Christodoulos Stefanadis reported that smoking is one of the leading causes of cardiovascular conditions. The Cardiology Conference is scheduled for the 25th and 26th of April.
