About 600 LARKO employees marched through Athens earlier today in protest of the government’s plans for the country’s defense industries and are protesting outside the State Treasury on Panepistimiou Street.

Nearby, at the Propylaea of the University of Athens, about 600 administrative staff employees from various institutions are holding their own rally against the government plans of dismissals and suspensions. The university protests plan on marching towards the Ministry of Administrative Reform at noon.

This is the first of a series of 48-hour strikes that have been announced in response to the government’s decision to suspend 1,600 university employees from all over the country.
