New Democracy MP Sofia Voultepsi has refused to have her hand bag searched when she went through the security entrance of Parliament.

When the police officer informed her of the new security measures in effect, Mrs. Voultepsi refused again and ignored his appeal. The police officer is expected to file a report to the President of Parliament Evangelos Meimarakis.

The new security measures, which include a metal detector, have come into effect in the past few weeks and apply to everyone, including the Prime Minister and his close associates.
