The European Commission’s deputy chief spokesperson, Mina Andreeva, said that the Commission supports the EU’s strategic partnership with Turkey.

Andreeeva said that the EU continues to cooperate with Turkey in many areas.

Specifically, she underlined that the EU is honouring its deal with Turkey on management of migrant flows, and that Ankara is doing the same.

Andreeva noted that when the need arises, the Commission reminds Turkey of the importance of respecting European principles.

Recently, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker noted plaintively that Turkey appears to be distancing itself from the EU, instead of coming closer.
