SYRIZA MP Petros Tatsopoulos was invited to Vima FM 99.5 to comment on, among others, the rumors of SYRIZA cooperating with ANEL in the upcoming municipal elections.

Mr. Tatsopoulos ruled out such a possibility, claiming that such a proposal “is not serious”, but he did reveal that there are considerations for cooperating with other leftist parties such as ANTARSYA and KKE. Mr. Tatsopoulos warned that “the next day will be revolting” if SYRIZA chooses to cooperate with another party with which it has nothing in common simply just to rule.

The SYRIZA MP also commented that Dora Bakoyanni’s proposal for DIMAR to return to the coalition government revealed that the government was aware that it cannot carry on for much longer with a majority of only 153 MPs. Mr. Tatsopoulos added that if DIMAR’s rate of approval continues to drop, the government will have little, if anything to gain.

Mr. Tatsopoulos was adamant however that regardless of whether New Democracy or SYRIZA wins the next elections, it is almost certain that the winning party will have to form a coalition government. This means that smaller parties, such as DIMAR, must choose with whom they are going to align themselves.
