French actress Juliette Binoche expressed her solidarity to Greece and urged the world to save the cash-strapped country “no matter what”, in a press conference in Edinburgh.
Mrs. Binoche is about to play the title role of Sophocles’ Antigone at the Edinburgh International Festival and told journalists that the 2,500-year-old play “is very political” has striking parallels with current world affairs.
According to the Oscar-winning French star “[Greece] gave us so much with these thinkers and genius poets. I think we have to save Greece no matter what. What Greece gave us is immense. I think we have to take care of them”.
The Edinburgh International Festival begins on Friday 7th of August, while Antigone runs from August 8th to the 22nd at the King’s Theatre.
