The Vice President of Parliament and SYRIZA MP Alexis Mitropoulos has argued that the national negotiation team needs to be supported by expert scientists not involved with the governing parties.

Mr. Mitropoulos, who appeared on Mega Channel on Monday, explained that the first negotiation team was inexperienced “and defeated”, while adding experts on the team will benefit the Left and the government. He further elaborated that the negotiation team is in need primarily of technical and legal negotiators.

Furthermore, Mr. Mitropoulos estimated that the agreement with the creditors will not be reached by the 20th of August, which in turn would be a “second major defeat” for the government as it will result in an “extreme leftist Thatcherite program that no left-wing government can undertake on its own”.

Finally, Mr. Mitropoulos lamented that while a number of proposed measures, which were leaked in the Sunday press, will not be accepted by the Greek people, they will nevertheless be necessary. He also warned that due to the fact that 40 years of employment will be required for a pension by 2021 “70% of women will be deprived of the right to a pension”.
