The Governor of the Bank of Greece Giorgos Provopoulos announced that the results of the stress tests for Greek banks would be published next week.

Mr. Provopoulos explained that the simulated stress test of the Greek banking system adopted a conservative approach, in order to ensure its credibility as a test.

The tests will reveal whether the four major Greek banks, which recently went through a recapitalization process, will be able to withstand future crises in the banking system. The external consultant companies during these stress tests were Ernst & Young and Rothschild.

Along with stress test results, the Bank of Greece will also publish details on the methodology and scenarios used.
