The rivalry tension between New Democracy and SYRIZA escalated when the government released an edited video of a speech by SYRIZA MPs Vangelis Diamantopoulos.
SYRIZA has addressed the National Broadcasting Council, the two government partners PASOK and Democratic Left and the greater center left political parties, regarding the government’s tactics.
Former minister I. Ragousis commented on the case via twitter, asking for the immediate resignation of Mr. Kedikoglou. There is no official reaction at PASOK, however in private, many members fear that the government’s misguided attack, especially since it used questionable means, will backfire.
Interestingly SYRIZA has not yet demanded that Mr. Kedikoglou resign, but they have urged Mr. Diamantopoulos to pursue legal action against the slander.
