The traffic police have announced a series of special measures that will come into effect during the Easter holiday season, in an effort to reduce collisions and accidents on the country’s roads.

Aside from localized measures, trucks weighing over 1.5 tons will face restrictions on the national highways during the day, aside from Easter Sunday, when no restrictions will be in effect. These restrictions do not apply to emergency services vehicles, vehicles transporting water, fresh produce or materials related to the elections.

Furthermore, the Police have revealed that it will step up its patrols in order to prevent and suppress crimes that typically increase during the holiday seasons, such as robberies and burglaries.

Earlier in the day the police force of Corinth announced that it arrested four men at Agios Ioannis Rentis, for possession of 25,000 fireworks and firecrackers, which they intended to sell on for about 3,000 euros.
