The government’s TAXISnet is going online today, with the 8,500,000 taxpayers having until the 30th of June to electronically submit their tax returns.

Many taxpayers, mostly pensioners, have not yet received certificates of their 2012 income in order to complete the relevant forms. Adding to the confusion, some insurance funds (such as OAEE) will send the certificates via mail and others (IKA and OGA) via the Internet.

On top of that, the Ministry of Finances has not yet published its booklet of detailed instructions on completing and submitting tax forms. There had been some confusion regarding the declaration of bank account interest rates, before a Ministry of Finances officer clarified that this only concerns account-holders who have received more than 250 euros from interest.

For the first time 18-year-olds will also be obliged to file a tax return, even if they have no income, unless they are a dependent child (such as students, disabled or those serving their compulsory military duties). Parents wishing to collect a family benefit must complete their children’s data on the A21 form.

Tax-payers will also have to declare the account number of their power supply for primary, secondary and holiday residence. Regarding receipts, tax payers must have collected 25% of their income, with a maximum value of 15,000 euros.

Civil servants as well as IKA, OAEE and OGA and public sector pensioners will notice that certain data will already have been completed in their tax return forms (such as the precise value of their wages and taxes withheld).
