SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras has decided to accept an invitation to the European House-sponsored Ambrosetti Forum in Northern Italy, meaning that he will not be attending the annual International Fair in Thessaloniki.

This decision has roused the ire of the opposition party’s Left Platform, as the opposition leaders traditionally expand their antigovernment rhetoric at the Fair in Thessaloniki.

The Left Platform has also expressed its scepticism over Mr. Tsipras’ choice, since prominent neoliberal political divs will be attending the Ambrosetti Forum, such as Manuel Barroso, Mario Monti, Joaquín Almunia, Jörg Asmussen, Michel Barnier and Jean-Claude Trichet.

The Ambrosetti Forum will take between Friday the 5th and Sunday the 7th of September.
